Safety and Quality Control

Safety

The safety and well being of our workforce is a high priority for Heartwood Pacific. A clean, safe, well-organized worksite is our standard.

Heartwood Pacific follows the US Army Corp of Engineers Safety and Health Requirements Manual – EM 385 1-1. Once a project is identified the various tasks are broken down and the safety/hazard elements of each task are identified and a determination is made regarding what safety gear or protective equipment should be utilized for each task. At the start of the project a kick-off meeting to discuss project safety is held and as each subcontractor comes on site, Heartwood holds a safety kick off meeting for their portion of the project. Weekly “tool box” safety meetings are also held and a 3 week look ahead schedule is utilized to review with staff upcoming tasks and the various safety issues. Everyone at Heartwood is responsible for the safety of the project and the workers.

Quality Control

Heartwood Pacific’s Quality Control goals are to work with all project stakeholders to be preventative and complete the work to ensure that construction is performed according to the plans and specifications, on time, within a defined budget, and with a safe work environment. A quality control program helps to prevent construction mishaps and deficiencies and assures that the project meets all quality requirements of the contract.

When a formal Quality Control (QC) Plan is required one is developed for the project that defines our procedures by which we manage and control Heartwood’s resources along with subcontractor’s and supplier’s activities so that the project complies with the contract requirements. Our formal quality control plans include, at a minimum, the following sections and they are customized for the job and approved by the contracting authority prior to implementation of the QC plan.
